3CX Phone System – Sample configurations and costings
To completely replace your old phone system, you might need to buy additional hardware such as IP phones or a VoIP Gateway. In this article, we have listed a number of sample configurations that will help you understand the total cost of a system. We define costs and type of phones according to the following categories:
Executive IP Phone: Aastra 55, SNOM 360, Linksys 942, Polycom 550, Yealink T28 – on average these phones will cost $150 each with the Yealink generally costing less.
Standard IP Phone: Aastra 51, Polycom 930, Linksys 922, Yealink T28. On average, these phones should not cost more then $100 each.
Headsets: Bluetooth headsets which can be used in combination with the softphone are available from Plantronics, Jabra and others. On average they cost $50 each.
Example 1 – 4 line system with 10 extensions
This small business phone system will use a VoIP provider tomake outbound calls. Two of the four PSTN lines will be retained for inbound calls and for backup purposes. The director will have an ‘executive’ phone, and other extension users will have standard IP Phone. This system will be installed and supported by a 3CX partner and will run on an existing Windows machine or as a virtual machine. Installation times and prices are just guidelines and will depend on location and requirements.

This small business system which will retain 4 of its PSTN lines for incoming calls and backup, and use a VoIP provider for all outbound calls. The sales staff will convert to soft phones.
